In the frame of the European Program SAVE, concerning the promotion of the effective use of energy within the Community, the European Union has issued the Directive 92/42/EEC of May 21st 1992, which set the requirements to be applied on the new hot water boilers regarding the energy efficiency and adequacy to the type of boiler having as an aim the certification and the sign “CE”. Directive 90/396/EEC of June 29th 1990 was also issued for the legislation of Member States on gas boilers. Consequently, Directive 2005/32/EC (transposed by National Presidential Decree at FEK 70/A/14-05-10), amended Directive 92/42/EEC. The guidelines concern all Member States, which had to transpose their national legislation according to them. Greek Legislation has been fully adjusted to these requirements.
